While Birdseed is primarily a space for original essays, reflections, and interviews, it’s also the vehicle for me to announce occasional offerings and ways to work with me.
When I’m not writing Birdseed, I’m advising global organizations on social change strategy and supporting individuals to find, hone, and amplify their authentic voices. In fact, that’s how I spent the majority of my career over the past nearly 20 years.
Over many years working with folks on “voice” (and I don’t mean singing, although I have been slowly building up my karaoke repertoire; I just reached into my brain’s annals to sing an old Liz Phair song without any lyric prompts) as a speechwriter and speech coach, ghostwriter, and as a communications and media strategist, there’s one thing I’ve become certain of: our voice is so much more than what we say.
This is true whether I’m working with a CEO about to give a livestreamed speech on a global stage or someone just starting out in their career and wondering deep down, do they matter at all? (yes!!!!)
Our voice is who we are. It’s how we plant ourselves, grow, and then shape the world around us. Our voice is our belief that we have a right to be here.
Our voice is how we show up - first, to ourselves, and then to our loved ones, our community, and the wider world.
Voice is about self-awareness, self-trust, and self-efficacy. This is crucial work to becoming a transformational node in a society getting free and getting just.
After decades of work in communications, the last two years have taken me on a deeper dive into contemplative practice, cultivating impeccable space holding, esoteric imaginings, and other drifty things.
Drawing on all of this, I’m thrilled to be working again to support individuals to cultivate and elevate their voice, but this time from a deeper, more multi-dimensional and integrated approach. There are two ways I’m doing that: through a high-touch container called RESONATE and a shorter series of narrative coaching sessions.
The ways I work with clients have both extremely practical components based on your goals — a refreshed bio, a compelling and enlivened professional narrative, or expanded executive presence — and more contemplative components: your experience of presence and mindfulness, cultivating your comfort with uncertainty, the integration of head, heart, and whole body in how you show up. We can work together in a short spurt or for several months to ongoing. More here.
If you’re stuck in your career, or feeling like the way you articulate who you are, your value, and what you want to do is fizzling, I can help.
If you know what to say but don’t feel it to the core, we can work on that.
If you’re curious to explore your voice at a deeper level, let’s do that.
If you believe that your voice is your most powerful mechanism for showing up fully, as yourself, and transforming the world around you, let’s connect.
I am part wing woman, part hype woman, part space holder.
I will be your mirror, your container, your catalyst, and your companion in this work. I trust myself and I trust you.
It brings me tremendous joy to support folks — especially women — in this way. I have space for just a couple of clients over the next few months, and then will be closing my books for a bit. So if this resonates for you in any way, email me at jessmack@gmail.com and let’s chat.
No matter what, I hope today you remember that that you — and your voice — matter immensely, exactly as you are, and that you possess within you precious seeds and the capacity to grow them to their fullest, most beautiful expression. Your voice is so powerful and so needed. I hope you use it as a vehicle to connect your heart with the world, allowing yourself to show up fully as you are.
